I got into a fight with a puddle on Tuesday. The puddle was on my painting. The puddle won.
It bled right past the edge I'd carefully planned, settled into a corner I hadn't invited it to, and dried into the most beautiful soft gradient I couldn't have painted on purpose if I'd tried for an hour.

It took me a long time to stop fighting that. To stop reaching for the paper towel every time something moved
in a direction I didn't expect.
Now?
I pour my coffee,
I sit back,
and I watch the water work.
